The Faith & The Fury: Noel Rockmore and His Patron
On View July 19, 2013 Through October 5, 2013
Located in the Louisiana Art & Science Museum
Noel Rockmore (1928-1995), a realist artist with a turbulent career, was supported for many years by Baton Rouge resident Shirley Marvin.
After Hurricane Katrina, a cache of over 1,400 works by Rockmore and 35 years worth of letters and documentation were discovered in Marvin’s storage facility. This exhibition told the story of this eccentric, New Orleans artist and his loyal patron through paintings, letters, and documentation.
