The Art of Chaos & Order: Sam Losavio
On View September 16, 2017 Through February 25, 2018
Located in the Soupçon Gallery
Discover the intriguing drawings and sculpture of Sam Losavio.
Created over the past three decades, the works on view express a fascination with the forces, process, forms, and structures that emerge from the interplay between chaos and order.
The inspiration to depict this dynamic relationship first emerged in Losavio’s art in the early 1980s and is prompted by his interest in the natural world, especially astronomy and cosmology. As the imagery becomes more dense and complex, unseen relationships are revealed and a sense of order emerges around points of focus. As Losavio puts it, “[The] chaos starts forming into patterns. It starts trying to organize itself into some kind of recognizable structure.”
