Sound Is An Invisible Color

On View August 24, 2019 Through March 8, 2020

Located in the Main Galleries (Floor 2)

Sound Is An Invisible Color spotlights the multimedia work of Christopher Janney, who designed Harmonic Grove, the entrance to the newly-built Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.

A pioneering artist working with sound, color, light, and technology, Janney has been transforming architectural spaces into interactive installations and producing multimedia performances across the globe for four decades.

In addition to studies for Harmonic Grove, the exhibition includes colorful maquettes and interactive sculptures. Of particular interest is Soundstair, a participatory sound installation that Janney has toured around the globe. In addition to such famous places as the Spanish Steps in Rome, Janney’s Soundstair was featured at LASM, known then as the Louisiana Arts and Science Center, in October 1981.
