A Universe in Glass: Josh Simpson
On View March 15, 2016 Through September 18, 2016
Located in the Universe Gallery
Josh Simpson captures the vastness and complexity of the universe in sculptures composed of glass.
Inspired by the beauty of the nighttime sky and other astronomical phenomena, he creates colorful works in traditional forms such as goblets, vases, bowls, and platters, as well as more unconventional pieces. Luminous spheres, called Megaplanets, enclose intricate, imaginary landscapes, underwater scenes, and vistas of outer space while his Tektite Portals offer otherworldly views. Simpson resides in Massachusetts with his wife, astronaut Catherine “Cady” Coleman.
