Star Party on the Levee
Saturday, March 20, 8:00 PM
Bring the whole family down to the levee to celebrate the Vernal Equinox, or first day of spring, and gaze at the moon, the ringed planet Saturn, star clusters and more through telescopes on the Riverfront Landing Dock between LASM and the USS Kidd. Bring your own telescope. FREE, weather permitting.

National Astronomy Day
Saturday, May 1, 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Join us as we celebrate astronomy and learn what it is all about. Pennington Planetarium will host a variety of special activities and events, including planetarium shows, interactive computer games, outdoor solar viewing (weather permitting), related exhibits, a telescope display, and more. Visitors will also learn about the importance of dark skies, light pollution, and careers in astronomy. Regular admission rates apply.

Alice in Wonderland Family Day
Saturday, May 22, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Bring the whole family to a celebration of Alice in Wonderland! Come dressed in costume and see the exceptional exhibition of whimsical illustrations, Almost Alice: New Illustrations of Wonderland by Maggie Taylor and participate in Alice-related art and science activities and games. Children are invited to bring their favorite tea set to display for the day. Display space will be limited, so please e-mail Tammy Johnston or call 225-344-5272, ext 117 to make a reservation. Astronomy Camp
Monday - Friday, June 21 - 25, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Kids spend five days under the stars identifying constellations and planets, making their own telescopes, and creating a comet at LASM's Irene W. Pennington Planetarium! They also learn how to model the solar system, identify the moon's phases, tell time by the stars, get closer to black holes, and find out just how far it is to the edge of our known universe! At the end of the week, each camper receives a telescope and a T-shirt.

Monthly Programs for Children and Families
KIDS' Saturday
Saturday, March 13, 10:00 - 5:00 PM
On the second Saturday of each month, kids 12 and under will be admitted free to all the museum’s galleries. On KIDS’ Saturday, regular admission is charged for parents, grandparents, and children over 12. Children may not attend LASM without an adult. Please note: Free admission does not include planetarium shows.

First Sundays
The First Sunday of Every Month
On the First Sunday of every month, LASM offers free admission to art, children's and planetarium galleries, and reduced admission to special exhibitions and sky shows or large-format films. Please come and visit us and see all that LASM has to offer!
