Show DescriptionUsing star charts, this interactive lesson challenges the student’s ability to locate seasonal planets and constellations in the night sky. Lesson content is geared for every individual grade level with an abbreviated version of the program recommended for students in Grades Pre-K–K. Upper grades also focus on the identification of other stellar objects, planetary orbits, and distances. Students may keep the star charts for classroom use.Grade Level: Pre-K–12 Grades Pre-K–4 Grade K Grade 1 SI-E-A1 Ask questions about objects and events in the environment. Grade 2 ESS-E-B1 Describe characteristics of the Sun, stars, and Earth’s moon (e.g., relative size, shape, color, production of light/heat). Grade 3ESS-E-B1 Identify, in order, the planets of the solar system. ESS-E-B2 Diagram the movement of the Moon around Earth and the movement of Earth around the Sun. SI-M-A1 Generate testable questions about objects and events that can be answered through scientific investigation. ESS-M-C1 Describe the significance of Polaris as the North Star.
