Fashions by Anthony Ryan Auld

January 18 - March 30, 2014

Go behind-the-scenes and witness the creative energy and dynamism of the fashion industry in this exhibition of up-and-coming designer Anthony Ryan Auld's unique clothing. A Baton Rouge native and graduate of LSU, Auld appeared on season nine of the phenomenal reality show Project Runway before winning the second season of Project Runway All Stars in 2013. In addition to featuring finished pieces that exemplify Auld's generous use of color-blocking and cutouts, the exhibition will showcase drawings, patterns, and video clip to demonstrate the design process.

Not only will this exhibition fascinate and inspire students, but understanding design and the fashion industry also lends well to project-based lessons. The design process itself, regardless if it is for fashion, engineering, or architecture, is much like the scientific process. Each uses similar creative problem solving activities to reach an end solution. Relevant curriculum topics include economics, the industrial age, trade and imports,  and global markets. Whether you choose to integrate Fashions by Anthony Ryan Auld into your classroom curriculum or book it as an entertaining experience, this exhibition offers endless opportunities for educators.
