Class Description

This anatomical adventure, focusing on the respiratory and circulatory systems, includes activities that promote learning about blood types, lung capacity, and the importance of making wise nutritional choices. The use of models, measurement, and collaborative learning contributes to this interdisciplinary approach to science education.

Grade Level: 4

State Standards, Benchmarks, and GLEs

(LS-E-A5) Describe how the organs of the circulatory system and respiratory system function

(LS-E-A6) Explain the primary role of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in the body

(SI-E-A2) Use observations to design and conduct simple investigations or experiments to answer testable questions

(SI-E-A1)  Pose questions that can be answered by using students’ own observations, scientific knowledge, and testable scientific investigations

(SI-E-A3) Use the five senses to describe observations 

(SI-E-B4)  Base explanations and logical inferences on scientific knowledge, observations, and scientific evidence
